Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,561 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 562 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the RJ85 CityJet aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LFRB Brest Bretagne Airport. This process took approximately 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 07R, with a takeoff distance of 887 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 135 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 17 knots at 120 degrees. The crosswind component was 13 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile north of Guipavas, in Bretagne, France, and ascended from an altitude of 1,315 feet above sea level to 30,395 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,080 feet, in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 160 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile east of Les Landes-Genusson, in Pays de la Loire, France, and lasted for 32 minutes, covering a distance of 310 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent overhead Sainte-Jalle, in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France, and descended from 30,755 feet above sea level to 1,330 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,426 feet, in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 91 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04L at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport was made from the southwest, heading 44.0 degrees, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,308 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 04L, which had a length of 2,561 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 116 knots.
The touchdown point was 105 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 100 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -370 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 12°C temperature and a wind speed of 9 knots at 320 degrees, with a crosswind component of 9 knots and a headwind component of 1 knot.
The total landing distance was 1,295 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took approximately 15 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 569 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 88 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,194 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The RJ85 aircraft, operated by CityJet, successfully landed at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport with a score of 88.0%. The final approach to runway 04L was initiated from the southwest, heading 44.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,308 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 116 knots. The touchdown point was located 105 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 100 knots was also good, indicating a controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -370 feet per minute was firm, suggesting a smooth and stable landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 320°. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. Despite these conditions, the pilot managed to maintain a stable approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,295 meters was 51% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation in the pilot's control during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of maintaining a perfect runway alignment during the rollout phase.
