Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 5,004 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,117 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 36 at KCGX Chicago Meigs Airport, where the aircraft, a PA34T Seneca V, took off with a takeoff distance of 937 ft, which was 28% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 81 kt. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 77 °F and a wind speed of 8 kt at 81 °, resulting in a crosswind of 8 kt and a headwind of 1 kt.
As the aircraft climbed out of Chicago, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of the Chicago Loop, Illinois, and ascended from 1,507 ft above sea level (asl) to 9,027 ft asl, an increase of 7,520 ft in just 8 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nm. Following this initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise 2 miles northwest of Oak Forest, Illinois, and maintained this altitude for 24 minutes, covering a distance of 49 nm.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb 4 miles northeast of IN41 Nuckols Airport Redkey, Indiana, and ascended from 9,265 ft asl to 15,310 ft asl, an increase of 6,046 ft in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nm. After this climb, the aircraft entered another level cruise 3 miles northeast of IN42 Hackbarth Airport Bremen, Indiana, and maintained this altitude for 21 minutes, covering a distance of 607 nm.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent 1 mile west of Southwood Acres, Connecticut, and descended from 14,795 ft asl to 622 ft asl, a decrease of 14,173 ft in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 49 nm. The final approach to runway 05 at KSFZ North Central State Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 30.0 ° at 0 nm and an altitude of 197 ft above ground level (agl).
The landing on runway 05 at KSFZ North Central State Airport was successful, with a runway length of 5,004 ft. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 92 kt. The touchdown distance was 1,116 ft, and the touchdown speed was 70 kt, which was good. The touchdown rate was also good at -170 fpm. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 11 ft from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 78 °F and a wind speed of 16 kt at 340 °, resulting in a crosswind of 12 kt and a headwind of 10 kt. The total landing distance was 2,060 ft, which was 41% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 748 nm, and the flight duration was 86 minutes. The aircraft used 595 lbs of fuel during the flight.
The PA34T Seneca V aircraft successfully landed at KSFZ North Central State Airport, achieving a score of 95.7%. The final approach was conducted from the southwest, heading 30.0° at 0 nm and 197 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 05, which has a length of 5,004 ft.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 92 kt was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's speed during the landing. The touchdown distance of 1,116 ft was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down within a safe distance from the runway's end.
The touchdown speed of 70 kt was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -170 fpm was also good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down smoothly and safely. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 11 ft from the centreline, which may require some adjustments to the pilot's approach technique.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 78 °F and winds of 16 kt at 340°. The crosswind component was 12 kt, while the headwind component was 10 kt. These conditions may have presented some challenges for the pilot, but they were able to successfully navigate the aircraft to a safe landing.
The total landing distance of 2,060 ft was 41% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase of the landing. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases.
