Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,786 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 55 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Cotswold Airport, located in Gloucestershire, England, the Kodiak 100 aircraft began its takeoff roll on runway 26. The aircraft accelerated down the 1,618-meter runway, eventually lifting off at a speed of 83 kt. The takeoff distance of 449 meters accounted for 28% of the available runway length, demonstrating a smooth and efficient departure.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it transitioned into an enroute climb phase, ascending from an initial altitude of 891 ft asl to 956 ft asl in a short period of less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The climb was characterized by a steady increase in altitude, with the aircraft maintaining a stable airspeed. Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, flying at a steady altitude and airspeed for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nm. This phase allowed the aircraft to conserve fuel and maintain a stable flight path.
The final approach to runway 26 at Cotswold Airport was initiated from the east, with the aircraft descending from an altitude of 103 ft agl. The landing was characterized by a good threshold height, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 52 kt and a distance of 53 meters. The touchdown rate of -182 fpm was also within acceptable limits, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and attention to detail. The total flight distance of 6 nm was completed in 4 minutes, with the aircraft consuming 10 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 26 at EGBP Cotswold Airport from the east, heading 260.0°, commenced at 0 nm and 103 ft above ground level. The aircraft maintained a stable and controlled descent throughout the approach, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target, registering at 56 kt.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown distance was recorded at 53 m, which was considered good. The touchdown speed of 52 kt was also within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -182 fpm was well within the desired range. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating precise control and accuracy during the landing phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a light headwind of 1 kt, contributed to a smooth and stable approach.
The aircraft's performance during the rollout phase was also noteworthy, with the centreline alignment maintained throughout. The overall score for the landing was 99.6%, reflecting the high level of proficiency and control demonstrated by the pilot during the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases. The landing was considered a success, with all key performance figures meeting or exceeding the desired standards.
