Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,863 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 804 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.66 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Simón Bolívar International Airport, taking 6 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 09, with a takeoff distance of 2,963 feet, which was 31% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 115 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 90°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 78°.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 1,074 feet above sea level to 24,945 feet, an increase of 23,870 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 72 nautical miles. The climb started overhead Maiquetia, a location in the Estado La Guaira, Venezuela. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 34 minutes and covered a distance of 177 nautical miles, starting 20 miles east of Higuerote Airport.
The enroute descent phase began 8 miles northwest of Ciudad Bolivar, with the aircraft descending from 23,775 feet to 11,000 feet, a decrease of 12,774 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 34 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles, starting 15 miles northwest of Ciudad Piar Airport.
The descent phase continued, with the aircraft descending from 10,501 feet to 5,491 feet, a decrease of 5,010 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began a climb phase, ascending from 5,489 feet to 8,978 feet, an increase of 3,489 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 26 nautical miles, starting 14 miles southeast of Ciudad Piar Airport. The descent phase continued, with the aircraft descending from 9,004 feet to 5,848 feet, a decrease of 3,157 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles, starting 15 miles northwest of Guasipati Airport. The descent phase continued, with the aircraft descending from 4,578 feet to 3,799 feet, a decrease of 780 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles, starting 1 mile southwest of Guasipati Airport. The descent phase continued, with the aircraft descending from 3,803 feet to 2,572 feet, a decrease of 1,232 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 18 at Canaima Airport began from the north, with the aircraft heading 172.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,229 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 18, which had a length of 6,863 feet. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was too high at 92 knots. The touchdown point was 668 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 81 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -223 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 81 feet from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 69 feet from the centerline. The local
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at SVCN Canaima Airport, but the landing was not without its issues. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north, heading 172.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,229 feet above ground level. The pilot managed to land on runway 18, which has a length of 6,863 feet, but there were some concerns with the approach.
One of the main issues was the threshold speed, which was too high at 92 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been pushing the aircraft too hard, which can increase the risk of a stall or other control issues. Additionally, the touchdown point was 668 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the pilot may have been a bit too aggressive with the landing.
The touchdown speed of 81 knots was also a bit fast, and the touchdown rate of -223 feet per minute was only fair. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to improve the landing by reducing the speed and rate of descent. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 81 feet from the centreline, which can make it more difficult to control the aircraft during the landing.
The local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 79°F and a wind of 2 knots at 44°. The crosswind and tailwind were both minimal, at 1 knot each, which suggests that the weather was not a major factor in the landing.
The total landing distance was 2,229 feet, which is 32% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, and it suggests that the pilot may have been able to improve the landing by reducing the speed and rate of descent. Finally, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 69 feet from the centreline, which can make it more difficult to control the aircraft during the rollout.
Overall, while the Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at SVCN Canaima Airport, there were some issues with the approach and landing that the pilot may be able to improve on in the future.
