Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,110 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 174 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by a Cessna Citation X aircraft, registered as C-FWRX. The aircraft began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles.
As the aircraft prepared for departure, it rolled down runway 17 at LFMD Cannes-Mandelieu Airport in the south of France. The takeoff distance was 579 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 136 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 190 degrees.
The crosswind component was minimal, at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and took the aircraft to an altitude of 13,665 feet above sea level. This climb phase covered a distance of 26 nautical miles and took just 5 minutes to complete, during which the aircraft's altitude increased by 12,640 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 20 nautical miles. This phase took place 25 miles southeast of the town of Antibes in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region of France.
As the aircraft continued on its journey, it began its enroute descent, which started 42 miles southeast of the town of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. During this phase, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 13,675 feet to 4,212 feet above sea level, a decrease of 9,463 feet in just 5 minutes. The descent phase covered a distance of 27 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. This phase took place 26 miles northwest of the town of Calvi on the island of Corsica.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final descent phase, which started 20 miles northwest of Calvi. During this phase, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 3,635 feet to 3,175 feet above sea level, a decrease of 461 feet in just 2 minutes. The descent phase covered a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. This phase took place 14 miles north of Calvi.
As the aircraft prepared to land, it began its final descent phase, which started 3 miles northwest of the town of Lumio. During this phase, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 3,159 feet to 375 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,784 feet in just 4 minutes. The descent phase covered a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 36 at LFKC Calvi-Sainte-Catherine Airport, which it landed on successfully. The landing was characterized by a good threshold height, a threshold speed of 124 knots, and a touchdown distance of 175 meters. The touchdown speed was 120 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -344 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 329 degrees.
The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. The total landing distance was 848 meters, which accounted for 40% of the runway length.
Following the landing,
The Cessna Citation X, registration C-FWRX, successfully landed at Calvi-Sainte-Catherine Airport (LFKC) with impressive precision. The aircraft, equipped with winglets, demonstrated exceptional control and stability during the final approach. The pilot's skillful navigation led the plane to a perfect touchdown alignment on runway 36, which is 2,110 meters long.
The approach was conducted from the south, heading 360.0°, at an altitude of 244 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft's speed was well-managed, with a threshold speed of 124 knots, which is ideal for a safe landing. The touchdown distance of 175 meters was also within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The landing was further enhanced by the favorable weather conditions. The temperature was a warm 30°C, and the wind was blowing at 9 knots from 329°. Although there was a slight crosswind component of 4 knots, the headwind of 8 knots helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach. The pilot's ability to adapt to these conditions resulted in a firm touchdown rate of -344 feet per minute, which is a testament to their expertise.
The total landing distance of 848 meters, which accounts for 40% of the runway, is a remarkable achievement. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently, without compromising safety. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the critical phase of the landing.
Overall, the landing of the Cessna Citation X, C-FWRX, at Calvi-Sainte-Catherine Airport was a textbook example of precision and skill. The pilot's expertise, combined with the aircraft's capabilities, resulted in a safe and efficient landing that showcased the best of aviation.
