Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,990 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 280 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport, EDDF. The Airbus A319 took off with a takeoff distance of 937 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 155 knots, and the aircraft climbed away from the airport.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and winds blowing at 14 knots from a direction of 30 degrees. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 1,382 feet above sea level to 3,640 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,258 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The enroute climb phase was followed by a descent phase, which started overhead Neu-Isenburg, a town in the state of Hessen, Germany. The aircraft descended from 3,640 feet above sea level to 2,932 feet above sea level, a decrease of 708 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south of Moerfelden-Walldorf, another town in the state of Hessen, Germany. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The level cruise phase was followed by another descent phase, which started overhead Ginsheim-Gustavsburg, a town in the state of Hessen, Germany. The aircraft descended from 2,979 feet above sea level to 1,630 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,349 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport was made from the southwest, heading 70 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 3,990 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 113 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 280 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 113 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -367 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.8 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and winds blowing at 12 knots from a direction of 70 degrees. The crosswind component was 0 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. The total flight distance was 29 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 13 minutes. The aircraft used 591 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed on runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) with a score of 95.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 70.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a critical aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 113 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed was slightly higher than desired, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the speed. The touchdown distance of 280 meters was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's descent.
The touchdown rate of -367 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating that the aircraft touched down with a moderate amount of force. This is a desirable outcome, as it helps to prevent the aircraft from bouncing or skidding upon touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.8 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 70°. The crosswind component was negligible, while the headwind component was 12 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and make the landing more manageable. Overall, the pilot's performance during the landing was satisfactory, with a few minor areas for improvement.
