MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,496 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,496 m of the 3,357 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,458 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Calgary International Airport, the Boeing 737-MAX8 began its journey on runway 17R, taking off with a distance of 2,118 meters, which covered 55% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 150 knots, despite a moderate tailwind of 5 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -13°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 314°.
As the aircraft climbed to its enroute level, it ascended from 4,133 feet above sea level to 36,568 feet, a vertical increase of 32,435 feet, in 19 minutes and covering 135 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a 54-minute cruise at a level altitude, during which the aircraft covered 452 nautical miles. The descent phase began 18 miles north of Macdonald Airport, where the aircraft descended from 36,737 feet to 2,983 feet, a decrease of 33,755 feet, in 16 minutes and covering 86 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 36 at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport was initiated from the south, with the aircraft touching down 984 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above target at 149 knots, while the touchdown rate was smooth at -120 feet per minute.
The landing distance of 2,358 meters was 70% of the runway length, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.3 meters from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 5 minutes and covered 2 nautical miles. The total flight distance was 696 nautical miles, taking 105 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,013 kilograms of fuel during the journey.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 touched down on runway 36 at CYWG Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, marking the culmination of a final approach initiated from the south at 4 nm and 1,014 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a heading of 5.0° and a threshold height of 84 ft above ground level, significantly above the target. The aircraft's speed at threshold was 157 kt, slightly above the target, but still within acceptable limits.
As the aircraft made contact with the runway, the touchdown speed of 149 kt was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -120 fpm was smooth, indicating a well-controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.3 m from the centreline, which would require correction during the rollout phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of -20 °C and a 12 kt headwind, presented a challenging environment for the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,358 m was 70% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.3 m from the centreline, mirroring the touchdown position. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance was satisfactory, earning a score of 78.2%.
