MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,175 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,403 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
A Boeing C17 aircraft departed from runway 26R at Ontario International Airport, taking off with a distance of 2,515 feet, which is 23% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 142 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 62 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and a headwind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead the airport, rising from an altitude of 1,992 feet above sea level to 1,615 feet above sea level, an increase of 377 feet in just 4 minutes. During this climb, the aircraft covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The climb was a smooth and efficient process, with the aircraft maintaining a steady ascent.
Upon reaching its destination, the aircraft began its final approach to runway 26R, heading east at a bearing of 270.0 degrees. At this point, the aircraft was 1 nautical mile from the runway and at an altitude of 631 feet above ground level. The approach was conducted under favorable weather conditions, with a temperature of 63 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees.
The landing was executed successfully, with the aircraft touching down 958 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 126 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown rate was slightly higher than ideal at -205 feet per minute. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway.
The total landing distance was 4,588 feet, which is 41% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft came to a stop smoothly and efficiently. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking just 1 minute to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 4 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 6 minutes. The aircraft consumed 2,243 pounds of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was a smooth and efficient operation, with the aircraft performing well under various weather conditions.
The Boeing C17 aircraft successfully landed at KONT Ontario International Airport, achieving a score of 86.1%. The final approach to runway 26R was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at 1 nm and 631 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold speed of 148 knots, which is a crucial factor in ensuring a stable and controlled descent.
However, the threshold height at 84 ft agl was significantly above the target, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach path. Despite this, the aircraft's touchdown point was 958 ft beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 126 kn was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's descent and speed.
The touchdown rate of -205 fpm was fair, indicating a slightly steeper descent than ideal. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline at touchdown. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 63°F and a gentle headwind of 1 kn from 270°.
The total landing distance of 4,588 ft was 41% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase and did not deviate from the centerline.
Overall, the Boeing C17's landing at KONT Ontario International Airport was a successful operation, with the pilot demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and touchdown phases. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal approach path, the aircraft's performance was generally good, and the landing was completed safely and efficiently.
