Improve the pattern downwind leg
The 45-degrees-behind-the-wing cue assumes you can turn your head and use peripheral vision. Downwind spacing cues like "put the wingtip halfway up the strut" assume a fixed, known eyepoint. Neither survives a monitor unmodified. If you fly on a fixed monitor, stop pretending and fly a numbers-based circuit.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,998 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 602 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 31L at UGTB Tbilisi International Airport. The SR22 aircraft accelerated down the runway, reaching a liftoff speed of 85 kt and covering a takeoff distance of 404 m, which was 13% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 22 °C and a wind speed of 11 kt blowing from 300 °.
As the aircraft entered the traffic pattern, it made a left-hand pattern entry from runway 31L, completing the maneuver in less than 1 nm in 15 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind was also executed in under 1 nm in 19 seconds. The pilot then initiated a pattern downwind turn, covering a distance of 1 nm at an angle of 99.7 ° to the runway. The downwind leg itself was 3 nm long and took 59 seconds to complete.
The next phase of the flight involved a pattern base leg turn, which covered a distance of 2 nm at an angle of 33.3 ° to the runway. The base leg itself was less than 1 nm long and took 20 seconds to complete. The pilot then initiated a final turn, which was also less than 1 nm in length and took 21 seconds to complete.
The final approach to runway 31L was made from the south-east, with the aircraft heading 312.0 ° at 1 nm and 345 ft above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold height of 58 ft agl, which was slightly above the target, and a threshold speed of 83 kt, which was considered good.
The touchdown point was 159 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 65 kt and a touchdown rate of -24 fpm, which was considered perfect. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.3 m from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22 °C and a wind speed of 9 kt blowing from 300 °.
The flight was completed with a total distance of 8 nm, taking 5 minutes to cover this distance and using 4 kg of fuel.
The SR22 aircraft successfully landed at UGTB Tbilisi International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.1%. The final approach to runway 31L was initiated from the south east, with a heading of 312.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 345 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach to the runway was characterized by a slightly above-target threshold height of 58 ft agl, but the threshold speed was good at 83 kt. This indicates that the pilot maintained a steady and controlled descent, with a focus on achieving the optimal speed for landing. The touchdown point was located 159 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the pilot may have been slightly too far back from the optimal touchdown position.
Despite this, the touchdown speed of 65 kt was good, indicating that the pilot maintained control and managed the aircraft's descent effectively. The touchdown rate of -24 fpm was also perfect, demonstrating a smooth and controlled landing. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 9 kt at 300°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 kt, while the headwind component was 8 kt, which would have helped to stabilize the aircraft's approach and landing. Overall, the pilot's performance was impressive, and the aircraft landed safely and smoothly at UGTB Tbilisi International Airport.
