Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 914 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 168 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 21 at EDXT Flugplatz Sierksdorf/Hof Altona. The Kodiak 100 aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 201 meters, which was 36% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 62 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 18 knots from a direction of 294°, resulting in a crosswind of 18 knots and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airfield, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northwest of Scharbeutz, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending from 1,063 feet above sea level to 3,744 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,681 feet in just 2 minutes, while covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The enroute climb was followed by a descent, which started 1 mile northeast of Ratekau, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The aircraft descended from 3,678 feet above sea level to 2,967 feet above sea level, a decrease of 711 feet in 2 minutes, while covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, which started 2 miles north of Selmsdorf, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. This cruise phase lasted for 12 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 33 nautical miles.
The enroute cruise was followed by another descent, which started overhead Luebesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The aircraft descended from 2,844 feet above sea level to 236 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,608 feet in 5 minutes, while covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at EDAN Neustadt-Glewe Airfield was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 273.0° at 0 nautical miles and 113 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 27, which had a length of 914 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 72 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 166 meters, and the touchdown speed was 61 knots, which was also good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -118 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 19 knots from a direction of 302°, resulting in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 16 knots.
The total landing distance was 592 meters, which was 65% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 17.2 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 53 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 26 minutes. The aircraft used 69 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, a Kodiak 100, successfully landed at EDAN Neustadt-Glewe Airfield, achieving a score of 93.3%. The final approach to runway 27 was initiated from the east, with the aircraft heading 273.0° at an altitude of 113 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 0 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 61 knots, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 166 meters was also considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The threshold speed was slightly above the target at 72 knots, but this did not appear to have any significant impact on the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 19 knots from 302°. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 16 knots. Despite these conditions, the pilot managed to maintain a smooth touchdown rate of -118 feet per minute (fpm).
However, there were some minor issues with the landing. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 5.7 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 17.2 meters from the centreline. These deviations were relatively minor and did not appear to have any significant impact on the safety of the landing.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within 592 meters of the runway, which is approximately 65% of the runway length. The pilot's ability to navigate the aircraft through the challenging weather conditions and maintain a smooth touchdown was a testament to their skill and experience.
