Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,653 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,653 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 642 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EFHK Helsinki Vantaa Airport, a process that took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 04R, with a takeoff distance of 1,800 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Helsinki Vantaa Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 12°C temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 143 degrees. The crosswind was 14 knots, while the tailwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,153 feet above sea level to 32,954 feet, an increase of 31,802 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 86 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 13 miles north of EEVO Vormsi Airfield on Vormsi Island, Estonia, and lasted for 49 minutes, covering a distance of 329 nautical miles. The aircraft then climbed again, this time from 32,972 feet to 35,045 feet, an increase of 2,073 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 22 miles east of EKNE Bodilsker Airstrip in Denmark, lasting for 131 minutes and covering a distance of 866 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, first from 35,662 feet to 25,570 feet, a decrease of 10,092 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 33 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 20 miles southeast of Cadaques, Spain, lasting for 2 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then descended again, this time from 24,925 feet to 6,006 feet, a decrease of 18,919 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 74 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed once more, this time starting 1 mile east of Castellbisbal, Spain, lasting for 5 minutes and covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. The aircraft then descended again, this time from 5,998 feet to 2,998 feet, a decrease of 3,000 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 2 miles south of Cubelles, Spain, lasting for 2 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final descent began 1 mile south of Sitges, Spain, with the aircraft descending from 3,002 feet to 1,297 feet, a decrease of 1,705 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then made a final approach to runway 06L at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, coming in from the southwest at a heading of 65.0 degrees and 4 nautical miles from the airport.
The landing was made on runway 06L, which had a length of 2,914 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 132 knots. The touchdown point was 224 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 124 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -304 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The total landing distance was 1,570 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area,
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 06L at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, achieving a score of 91.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 65.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level (agl).
The final approach was executed with a good threshold speed of 132 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown point was 224 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 124 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, which may have contributed to the aircraft's firm touchdown rate of -304 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite the minor deviations, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a gentle wind of 7 knots at 120°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which may have contributed to the aircraft's slightly faster touchdown speed.
The total landing distance of 1,570 meters was 54% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations that could be improved upon in future landings.
