Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,786 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 98 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from Cotswold Airport, EGBP, commenced with a roll down runway 26, where the Piper Cub accelerated to liftoff speed of 44 kt in a distance of 213 m, representing 13% of the available runway length. The aircraft then transitioned into a steady climb, with the local weather conditions of 20 °C temperature and a 3 kt headwind at 232° contributing to a smooth ascent.
Following a brief enroute level cruise, lasting 2 minutes and covering 2 nm, the aircraft began its descent for a go-around on runway 26 at EGBP Cotswold Airport. The go-around was initiated at an altitude of 12 ft agl, and the aircraft subsequently transitioned into a final approach from the east, heading 255.0° at 1 nm and 302 ft agl. The landing was executed on runway 26, which had a length of 1,618 m, with a threshold height that was considered good. The aircraft touched down at a speed of 36 kt, with a touchdown distance of 135 m, and a touchdown rate of 28 fpm, which was deemed perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 15 °C temperature and a 1 kt headwind at 270°.
The flight concluded with a total distance of 23 nm, which was covered in 33 minutes, and a fuel consumption of -3 kg. The performance of the aircraft was satisfactory, with the landing being executed with precision and control. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect, indicating a high level of pilot skill and situational awareness.
The final approach to runway 26 at EGBP Cotswold Airport from the east was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 255.0° at 1 nm and 302 ft above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target, coming in at 40 kt. Despite this minor deviation, the touchdown distance was good, with the aircraft touching down at 135 m from the threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 36 kt, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate was particularly noteworthy, with a perfect rate of 28 fpm. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle headwind of 1 kt from 270°. The crosswind component was negligible, at 0 kt.
The rollout phase was smooth and controlled, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment. Overall, the landing was executed to a high standard, with a score of 91.5%. The combination of good approach quality, precise touchdown, and controlled rollout made for a safe and efficient landing.
