MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
Pull to 15 degrees at one rate and you get a clean liftoff, pull to the same 15 degrees at twice the rate and you get an overshoot, a push, and an oscillation through the first few hundred feet. The type-general rule of thumb is a rotation rate of about 2 to 3 degrees per second, which means roughly five to seven seconds from starting the pull to reaching the initial climb attitude of around 15 degrees nose-up. Count it out loud during your next takeoff and you will almost certainly discover you have been rotating in two seconds flat.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,561 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,561 m of the 1,919 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 560 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a British Aerospace 146-200, then departed from runway 29C at YSBK Sydney Bankstown Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,250 meters, which was 99% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 119 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 42 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead Lansvale in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The climb took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 98 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,029 feet above sea level to 29,924 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,895 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 10 miles south east of Winderadeen ALA Collector in the state of New South Wales, Australia. This phase lasted for 31 minutes and covered a distance of 215 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 4 miles north of Eildon in the state of Victoria, Australia. The descent took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 56 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 29,830 feet above sea level to 1,622 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,207 feet.
The final approach to runway 26 at YMEN Melbourne Essendon Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 268.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,354 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 26, which had a length of 1,919 meters. The threshold height at 59 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 138 knots.
The touchdown point was 141 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 125 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was perfect at -40 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 300 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,476 meters, which was 77% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took 15 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 376 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 79 minutes. The aircraft used 4 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The British Aerospace 146-200 aircraft successfully landed at Melbourne Essendon Airport (YMEN) on runway 26. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 268.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,354 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 97.1%.
The aircraft touched down slightly beyond the touchdown zone, 141 meters past the designated area. The touchdown speed of 125 knots was slightly above the target, indicating that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further to achieve a more optimal landing. However, the touchdown rate of -40 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, demonstrating excellent control and precision during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a gentle wind of 5 knots from 300°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. These conditions likely contributed to the smooth and controlled landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control and stability during the landing roll.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a score of 97.1%. The pilot demonstrated good control and precision during the landing, and the aircraft's systems performed as expected.
