Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,528 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 174 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The XCub aircraft departed from Triengen Airfield, located at LSPN, with a takeoff roll on runway 33. The takeoff distance was 250 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 52 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 3 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 241 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it began its enroute climb phase overhead Triengen, in the Kanton Luzern region of Switzerland. The aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,192 feet above sea level to 5,501 feet, an increase of 3,310 feet, in just 9 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 15 nautical miles. Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered its level cruise phase, which started 3 miles southwest of Luthern, also in the Kanton Luzern region. This phase lasted for 11 minutes and covered a distance of 20 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its enroute descent phase overhead Thierachern, in the Canton de Berne region of Switzerland. The aircraft descended from an altitude of 6,564 feet above sea level to 3,504 feet, a decrease of 3,061 feet, in just 4 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. Following the enroute descent, the aircraft prepared for its final approach to runway 32 at LSZB Bern Airport.
The final approach was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 314.0 degrees at a distance of 2 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,800 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 32, which had a length of 1,528 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 180 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots.
The landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 45 knots and a distance of 170 meters. The touchdown rate was smooth, at -138 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The total landing distance was 607 meters, which accounted for 40% of the runway. Following the landing, the aircraft's runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The total flight distance was 45 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 27 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 12 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The XCub aircraft successfully landed at LSZB Bern Airport, achieving a score of 99.6%. The final approach to runway 32 was conducted from the south east, with a heading of 314.0° at 2 nautical miles and 1,800 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing safely on the runway.
The landing was executed with a threshold speed that was slightly below the target speed of 52 knots. However, this did not affect the overall performance of the aircraft, as the touchdown distance of 170 meters was considered good. The touchdown speed of 45 knots was also within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -138 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 4°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 180°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots, which did not significantly impact the aircraft's performance. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The total landing distance of 607 meters was 40% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft demonstrated good performance in a variety of conditions.
