Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: centreline 12.0° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,671 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 582 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777F departed from runway 23L at NZAA Auckland International Airport, accelerating along a take-off roll of 2,426 m which represented 66 % of the available runway. Liftoff was achieved at 153 kt while the local weather reported a temperature of 13 °C, wind 11 kt from 263°, with a 2 kt cross-wind component and an 11 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced one mile south-west of the airport, where the aircraft rose from 1,035 ft asl to 1,579 ft asl, an altitude gain of 543 ft in 1 minute while covering 3 nm.
Level cruise began three miles south of NZAA and was maintained for 4 minutes, during which the flight covered 12 nm.
During final approach the aircraft descended from 1,441 ft agl to 60 ft agl in 105 seconds, meeting the stabilisation gate criteria.
The approach to runway 23L continued under the same weather conditions-temperature 13 °C, wind 11 kt from 263° with a 2 kt cross-wind and 11 kt head-wind-leading to a landing on a runway 3,671 m long. Threshold speed was recorded at 150 kt, and touchdown occurred 163 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 137 kt. The aircraft touched down with a firm rate of minus 387 fpm and was laterally offset by 6.1 m from the centreline. Total landing distance measured 1,085 m, representing 30 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was described as very good, confirming the aircraft remained well centred during the deceleration phase.
Taxiing from the runway to the parking area took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nm.
In summary, the flight covered a total distance of 22 nm, took 8 (units as provided), and consumed 1,476 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777F approached runway 23L at NZAA Auckland International Airport and was assessed as unstable at the 1,000 ft gate, being off the centreline. The aircraft descended from 1,441 ft agl to 60 ft agl in 105 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 150 kt.
Touchdown occurred 163 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 137 kt, which was good, and the rate was firm at minus 387 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 6.1 m from the centreline, and the total landing distance was 1,085 m, representing 30 % of the 3,671 m runway. Local weather was 13 °C, wind 11 kt from 263°, with a 2 kt crosswind component and an 11 kt headwind.
Runway rollout alignment was very good.
The primary deviations were the off-centreline approach and the slight touchdown misalignment; tightening the final-approach track will reduce both. Maintaining a precise centreline on the final will help achieve a more centered touchdown and preserve the high score of 93.5%.
