MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,738 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 476 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA). This process took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 01, and the takeoff distance was 990 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 153 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -1°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots blowing from a direction of 334°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead the Washington Potomac Washington (District of Columbia, United States) area. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,046 feet above sea level to 34,374 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,328 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 102 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began overhead the Nellysford area in Virginia. This phase lasted for 25 minutes and covered a distance of 279 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began 2 miles west of the Anna's Airport Walhalla (South Carolina, United States) area. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 34,396 feet above sea level to 2,198 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,198 feet, in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 87 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26R at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL) was made from the east, with the aircraft heading in a direction of 270.0° at an altitude of 1,169 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 26R, which had a length of 2,738 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 137 knots.
The touchdown point was located 59 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 132 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -312 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned from the centerline by 19.6 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -1°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots blowing from a direction of 309°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,413 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned from the centerline by 19.2 meters. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 476 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 59 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 3,893 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL) on runway 26R, achieving a score of 90.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,169 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed with good threshold height and threshold speed, reaching 137 knots. The touchdown point was 59 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 132 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -312 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent.
However, there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 19.6 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 19.2 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the pilot may have had some difficulty maintaining a straight course during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of -1°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from 309°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, and the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions were not particularly challenging, and the pilot should have been able to maintain control of the aircraft despite the misalignment issues.
Overall, the landing was successful, but the misalignment issues suggest that the pilot may need to work on their skills in maintaining a straight course during landing. With some practice and improvement, the pilot should be able to achieve a higher score and a more precise landing.
