Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,495 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 489 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, then departed from runway 12 at EKVG Vágar Airport, located in the Faroe Islands. The takeoff distance was 1,222 meters, which accounted for 68% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 140 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 7°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 10°. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of EKVG Vágar Airport. The climb took 17 minutes and covered a distance of 108 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from an altitude of 346 meters above sea level to 11,097 meters above sea level.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 68 miles south of Sumba in the Faroe Islands. This phase lasted for 59 minutes and covered a distance of 449 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile north east of Malpas in England. The descent took 27 minutes and covered a distance of 163 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from an altitude of 11,282 meters above sea level to 1,218 meters above sea level.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north west of Lewes in England. This phase lasted for 8 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile north west of Uckfield in England. The descent took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 12 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from an altitude of 1,168 meters above sea level to 576 meters above sea level.
The final approach to runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 258.0° at an altitude of 391.4 meters above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 26L, which had a length of 2,495 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 133 knots.
The touchdown point was 68 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -0.6 meters per second. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots at a direction of 240°. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,322 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 753 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 132 minutes. The aircraft used 4,441 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-600 aircraft successfully landed at London Gatwick Airport's runway 26L, achieving a score of 96.7%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 258.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 391.4 meters above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 68 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center. The touchdown speed of 124 knots was slightly above the target speed, indicating a slightly faster-than-ideal touchdown. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -0.6 meters per second, suggesting a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly off-center touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots from 240°. This resulted in a 3-knot crosswind and a 9-knot headwind, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment during the landing.
Despite the slight deviations from the ideal landing, the total landing distance of 1,322 meters was only 53% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
