Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,580 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 388 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Boeing 777F taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Frankfurt Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 07C, with a takeoff distance of 1,387 meters, which is 35% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 202 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 3°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at a direction of 10°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Frankfurt Airport and ascending from an altitude of 1,375 feet above sea level to 34,594 feet, an increase of 33,219 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 65 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase began overhead Hennef, Germany, and lasted for 36 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 258 nautical miles. The descent phase started 1 mile west of Rettendon, England, and involved a decrease in altitude from 34,343 feet to 1,585 feet, a decrease of 32,758 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 96 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at East Midlands Airport was made from the east, heading 268.0°, at an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 27, which has a length of 2,580 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 140 knots. The touchdown distance was 390 meters, and the touchdown speed was 138 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -264 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.2 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 260°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 8 knots. The total landing distance was 1,095 meters, which is 42% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight concluded with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking approximately 2 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 428 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 78 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 9,291 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777F aircraft successfully landed at East Midlands Airport (EGNX) on runway 27, achieving a score of 97.5%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 268.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilots maintained a suitable altitude prior to touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 140 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 390 meters was also deemed good, indicating that the pilots managed to slow down the aircraft effectively. However, the touchdown speed of 138 knots was slightly below the expected value, which may have contributed to a fair touchdown rate of -264 feet per minute (fpm). A fair touchdown rate suggests that the aircraft's descent was not as smooth as desired, potentially resulting in a slight jolt upon touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the pilots' attempt to compensate for the crosswind. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from 260°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 8 knots, which may have assisted the pilots in maintaining a stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,095 meters was 42% of the runway length, indicating that the pilots managed to slow down the aircraft effectively. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilots demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and touchdown phases.
