Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,948 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 513 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 24 at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The takeoff distance was 1,298 meters, which is 41% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 190°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Aalsmeerderbrug in the Netherlands. The climb took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 118 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,030 feet above sea level to 37,304 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,274 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 71 miles northwest of Oost-Vlieland in the Netherlands. This phase lasted for 18 minutes and covered a distance of 133 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 123 miles northeast of Marske-by-the-Sea in England. The descent took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 132 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 37,023 feet above sea level to 2,555 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,468 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 3 miles southeast of Portlethen in Scotland. This phase lasted for only 3 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 34 at EGPD Aberdeen Dyce Airport, approaching from the southeast. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,295 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway threshold when it started its final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 17 knots from a direction of 310°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 15 knots. The aircraft landed on runway 34 at EGPD Aberdeen Dyce Airport, which has a length of 1,948 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 144 knots. The touchdown point was 97 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 135 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -254 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.3 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 979 meters, which is 50% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 397 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 76 minutes. The aircraft used 3,066 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at EGPD Aberdeen Dyce Airport, with a score of 97.6%. The final approach was conducted from the south east, heading 338.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,295 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 34, which has a length of 1,948 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. Additionally, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 144 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been slightly faster than necessary when reaching the threshold.
The touchdown point was located 97 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, indicating that the aircraft may have been experiencing some drag or other factors that contributed to a higher-than-desired speed at touchdown. The touchdown rate of -254 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft was able to slow down relatively quickly after touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and aligned path after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 17 knots from 310°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the headwind component was 15 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold speed and the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a score of 97.6% indicating a high level of proficiency.
