Track the centreline on final
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 835 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 835 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 279 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the takeoff of a Britten Norman Maritime Defender aircraft from runway 11 at EDXB Heide-Büsum Airport. The aircraft rolled down the runway for 349 meters, which was 48% of the runway's length, before lifting off into the air at a speed of 76 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 206 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of EDXB Heide-Büsum Airport, near the Oesterdeichstrich area. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,022 feet above sea level to 2,619 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,597 feet, in just 2 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. This marked the beginning of the aircraft's enroute level cruise, which lasted for 42 minutes and covered a distance of 89 nautical miles as it flew overhead the town of Hemmingstedt in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent 3 miles east of Rodbyhavn in Region Sjaelland, Denmark, where it descended from an altitude of 2,370 feet above sea level to 1,905 feet above sea level, a decrease of 466 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off and began another enroute level cruise, this time lasting just 2 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles as it flew 1 mile northeast of Rodbyhavn.
The aircraft then began its final descent 3 miles northwest of Rodbyhavn, where it descended from an altitude of 1,505 feet above sea level to 86 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,419 feet, in 5 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off and began another enroute level cruise, this time lasting just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles as it flew 3 miles southwest of EKNS Nakskov Airfield in Region Sjaelland, Denmark.
The aircraft then began its final climb 8 miles southeast of Rudkobing in Region Syddanmark, Denmark, where it climbed from an altitude of 242 feet above sea level to 1,585 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,344 feet, in 3 minutes and covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off and began another enroute level cruise, this time lasting just 2 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles as it flew 5 miles south of Rudkobing.
The aircraft then began its final descent 4 miles east of Marstal in Region Syddanmark, Denmark, where it descended from an altitude of 1,574 feet above sea level to 304 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,270 feet, in 3 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 33 at EKAE Ærø Airfield, flying from the southeast and heading 332.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 295 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 33 at EKAE Ærø Airfield, which was 835 meters long, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 75 knots, and the touchdown distance was good at 278 meters. The touchdown speed was also good at 63 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -339 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters
The Britten Norman Maritime Defender aircraft successfully landed at EKAE Ærø Airfield, achieving a score of 92.8%. The final approach to runway 33 was conducted from the south east, with the aircraft heading 332.0° at 1 nautical mile and 295 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 75 knots, but this did not seem to have a significant impact on the overall landing performance. The touchdown distance of 278 meters was good, and the touchdown speed of 63 knots was also within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown rate of -339 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating a relatively hard landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 19°C and winds of 11 knots at 202°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the tailwind component was 7 knots.
The total landing distance of 560 meters was 67% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the final approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of alignment and touchdown rate.
