Improve the pattern base leg turn
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,284 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 246 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 35 at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The Honda Jet accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 221 meters, which accounted for 7% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 124 knots, marking the start of its journey.
As the aircraft entered the local airspace, it encountered a temperature of -1°C and a wind speed of 28 knots from a direction of 330°. The crosswind component was 14 knots, while the headwind component was 25 knots. These conditions presented a challenge for the pilot, but the aircraft's performance was not significantly affected.
The pilot initiated a left-hand pattern entry from runway 35, navigating the aircraft through a tight turn that covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in just 17 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind turn was even more impressive, with the aircraft completing the maneuver in under 10 seconds and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
As the aircraft continued its pattern, it entered the downwind turn, which covered a distance of 1 nautical mile and involved a 45-degree angle to the runway. The downwind leg itself was 2 nautical miles long and took 28 seconds to complete. The base leg turn was another 2 nautical miles long and involved a 45-degree angle to the runway, with the aircraft aligning itself for the final approach.
The final approach to runway 35 was made from the south, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 356.0° and an altitude of 294 feet above ground level. The aircraft was 1 nautical mile from the runway threshold when it began its descent.
The landing itself was smooth and controlled, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 97 knots and a distance of 246 meters from the threshold. The touchdown rate was -139 feet per minute, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.2 meters.
The total landing distance was 614 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 13.2 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the landing was considered good, and the aircraft's performance was impressive given the challenging weather conditions.
The total flight distance was 7 nautical miles, and the flight took approximately 3 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 16 kilograms of fuel during the flight, indicating a relatively efficient performance. Overall, the flight was a testament to the Honda Jet's capabilities and the pilot's skill in navigating challenging weather conditions.
The Honda Jet successfully landed at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport, achieving a score of 92.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 356.0° at 1 nautical mile and 294 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a smooth final approach, maintaining a good threshold height and speed of 116 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft performed well, with a touchdown distance of 246 meters and a speed of 97 knots. The touchdown rate was also smooth, at -139 feet per minute (fpm). However, there was a slight deviation from the centerline, with the runway touchdown position being 4.2 meters off-center.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -1°C, with a wind speed of 28 knots from 330°. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 25 knots. Despite these challenging conditions, the pilot managed to maintain control of the aircraft, with the total landing distance being 614 meters, which is 19% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-center, deviating by 13.2 meters from the centerline. However, this deviation was relatively minor, and the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a safe stop. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and judgment in executing the approach and landing.
