Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,546 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,546 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 200 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 20 at LEJR Jerez Airport, a small airport located in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain. The takeoff distance was 1,296 meters, which is 56% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 144 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 14°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 339°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 3 knots. After departing from Jerez Airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south of the airport and reached an altitude of 33,340 feet above sea level (asl). The climb was a significant increase of 32,277 feet in just 17 minutes, covering a distance of 88 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile northeast of Comares, Andalusia, Spain. This phase lasted for 33 minutes and covered a distance of 255 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 1 mile west of La Llosa, Comunitat Valenciana, Spain. The descent was from 33,270 feet asl to 27,603 feet asl, a decrease of 5,667 feet in just 5 minutes, covering a distance of 37 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to alternate between level cruise and descent phases, with each phase lasting for a few minutes. The level cruise phases were characterized by a steady altitude and a relatively short duration, while the descent phases were marked by a significant decrease in altitude and a shorter duration. The aircraft's final descent phase started 7 miles northeast of LEDT Deltebre Airport, Deltebre, Catalunya, Spain, and ended with a landing on runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 200 meters and a touchdown speed of 128 knots. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -579 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 19 knots at 50°. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the tailwind was 18 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 542 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 106 minutes. The aircraft used 3,636 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, achieving a score of 94.2%. The final approach to runway 24R was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 246.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were generally good, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 129 knots. The touchdown distance of 200 meters was also within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to a harder-than-ideal touchdown rate of -579 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.5 meters, which may have been due to factors such as crosswind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 19 knots from a direction of 50°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 18 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing performance.
Despite the slightly faster-than-desired touchdown speed and the misaligned runway touchdown position, the aircraft's runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilots were able to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing roll. The total landing distance of 1,468 meters was 50% of the available runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and the wind conditions.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and runway alignment. However, the pilots' ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing roll and the good runway rollout alignment were notable positives.
