MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 12,322 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,632 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Vision Jet started with a 5-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at KAAO Colonel James Jabara Airport. The departure roll was on runway 36, with a takeoff distance of 1,686 ft, covering 28% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 104 kn. The local weather at the time of departure was 41°F with a 16 kn wind coming from 180°, resulting in a 2 kn crosswind and a 16 kn tailwind.
The enroute climb began over Colonel James Jabara Airport in Wichita, Kansas, climbing from 2,149 ft above sea level to 9,664 ft, covering 11 nm in 4 minutes. The enroute level cruise segment commenced 3 miles north of SN68 Lil Bird Airport in Valley Center, Kansas, lasting 4 minutes and covering 20 nm.
The enroute descent started 3 miles northeast of 47K Moundridge Muni in Moundridge, Kansas, descending from 9,649 ft to 2,561 ft, covering 29 nm in 8 minutes. The final approach to runway 35 at KSLN Salina Municipal Airport came from the south, with a heading of 0.0° at 4 nm and 1,301 ft above ground level.
The landing on runway 35 at KSLN Salina Municipal Airport was successful, with a runway length of 12,322 ft. The threshold height was slightly higher than the target at 64 ft above ground level. The touchdown speed was good at 76 kn, and the touchdown rate was fair at -240 ft/min. The touchdown point was 211 ft beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather at the time of landing was 36°F with no crosswind or headwind.
The total landing distance was 2,409 ft, covering 20% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. After landing, a 3-minute taxi from the runway to the parking area covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 66 nm, with a duration of 28 minutes and fuel consumption of 215 lbs.
Overall, the aircraft landing score of 92.1% indicates a strong performance during the approach, landing, and touchdown phases of the landing process. The approach phase showed good glideslope alignment and a solid threshold speed of 98 knots, demonstrating a clear understanding and execution of proper procedures.
The landing phase, however, had room for improvement. While the threshold height of 64 feet above ground level was slightly above target, it is important to maintain precision and aim for a closer alignment with the desired parameters. Additionally, the landing flare was noted as very poor, indicating a need for more practice and refinement in this aspect of the landing process.
During the touchdown phase, the touchdown rate was fair at -240 feet per minute, suggesting a decent descent rate upon contact with the runway. The touchdown speed of 76 knots was good, showing an appropriate speed control during the final moments of the landing. However, the touchdown point being 211 feet beyond the touchdown zone could be improved upon to ensure a more accurate and precise landing.
One strong point to highlight is the runway touchdown alignment, which was noted as very good. This indicates a high level of skill and proficiency in aligning the aircraft with the runway during touchdown, contributing to the overall successful landing score.
In conclusion, while there were areas for improvement such as the landing flare technique and touchdown point accuracy, the aircraft landing score of 92.1% reflects a solid performance with strong fundamentals. With continued practice and attention to detail, further refinements can be made to achieve even higher levels of proficiency and precision in future landings. Keep up the good work and strive for excellence in all aspects of aircraft operations.
