MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,922 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,922 m of the 3,100 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 537 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 36 at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The takeoff distance was 1,316 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 162 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -8°C, with a wind speed of 21 knots at a direction of 72°. This resulted in a crosswind of 19 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead the airport and ascending from 1,932 feet above sea level to 34,438 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,506 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 140 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 11 miles northwest of the 04MN Helblad Airport in Kelliher, Minnesota, United States, and lasted for 39 minutes, covering a distance of 646 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time starting 8 miles east of Bloomington, Indiana, United States, and ascending from 35,000 feet above sea level to 36,969 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,969 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 56 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 2 miles west of Westport, Kentucky, United States, and lasted for 95 minutes, covering a distance of 1,367 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 23 miles north of Rio San Juan in the Dominican Republic, and descending from 36,647 feet above sea level to 1,272 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,374 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 124 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 08 at Punta Cana International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 73.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,224 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 08, which had a length of 3,100 meters. The threshold height was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 148 knots. The touchdown point was 122 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was good at -187 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 25°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 29°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 1,843 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,344 nautical miles, taking a total of 190 minutes, and the aircraft used 11,473 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at MDPC Punta Cana International Airport, achieving a score of 94.6%. The final approach to runway 08 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 73.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,224 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a threshold height that was above the target, indicating a slightly higher-than-desired altitude at the point of touchdown.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 142 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed of 138 knots. However, the touchdown rate of -187 feet per minute (fpm) was within the acceptable range, indicating a controlled descent. The touchdown point was located 122 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may have been due to the aircraft's slightly fast touchdown speed.
The runway touchdown position was also found to be misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been a result of the aircraft's approach path or the pilot's control inputs during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 29°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,843 meters was 59% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also found to be slightly misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been a result of the aircraft's touchdown point being beyond the designated touchdown zone.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 94.6%. However, there were some minor issues with the touchdown speed, touchdown point, and runway rollout alignment, which may be addressed through further training or adjustments to the aircraft's approach procedures.
