Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,987 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 352 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A321 then departed from runway 05 at LDSP Split Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,180 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 28 knots coming from a direction of 110 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 24 knots and a headwind of 15 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Kastel Stafilic in Split-Dalmatia, Croatia. The climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 100 nautical miles, with the aircraft rising from an altitude of 1,149 feet above sea level to 36,956 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 5 miles south of Senj in Lika-Senj, Croatia. This phase of the flight lasted 16 minutes and covered a distance of 122 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Feld am See in Kaernten, Austria. The descent took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 106 nautical miles, with the aircraft dropping from an altitude of 36,849 feet to 6,675 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile north of Lohkirchen in Bavaria, Germany. This phase of the flight lasted only 3 minutes and covered a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile east of Hohenpolding in Bavaria, Germany. The descent took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles, with the aircraft dropping from an altitude of 5,910 feet to 2,789 feet.
The final approach to runway 26L at EDDM Munich Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 264.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,307 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 26L, which had a length of 3,987 meters. The threshold height at 55 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 129 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 352 meters, and the touchdown speed was 122 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -502 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots coming from a direction of 200 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,111 meters, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 10 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 358 nautical miles, and the flight took 78 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3,508 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed on runway 26L at EDDM Munich Airport, achieving a high score of 95.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 264.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,307 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 122 knots, which was within the acceptable range.
The touchdown distance of 352 meters was also satisfactory, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the landing phase. However, the touchdown rate was quite hard, at -502 feet per minute (fpm), which may have caused some stress on the aircraft's landing gear. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.7 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's control inputs.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 200°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions were favorable for the landing, and the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft despite the slight wind.
The total landing distance of 1,111 meters was 28% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and was able to bring it to a stop safely.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and precision during the approach and landing phases. However, the hard touchdown rate and slight misalignment from the centerline may be areas for improvement in future landings.
