Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,735 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 343 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 24L at LEPA Palma de Mallorca Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,841 meters, which accounted for 71% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 164 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 210 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of LEPA Palma de Mallorca Airport, rising from an altitude of 1,051 feet above sea level to 30,215 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,163 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 71 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 33 miles northwest of Cala de Portinatx, Spain. This phase lasted for 18 minutes and covered a distance of 117 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its first descent, which started 4 miles northwest of Alpera, Spain, and ended at an altitude of 22,771 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,662 feet, in 5 minutes and covering 35 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 4 miles south of Pozohondo, Spain, and lasted for 22 minutes, covering a distance of 141 nautical miles. The second descent started 2 miles southwest of Arenas del Rey, Spain, and ended at an altitude of 3,138 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,684 feet, in 13 minutes and covering 44 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a short level cruise phase, which started 3 miles west of Fuente de Piedra, Spain, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began a climb from 2,968 feet above sea level to 4,916 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,947 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a descent phase, which started 5 miles northeast of Ardales, Spain, and ended at an altitude of 1,328 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,607 feet, in 5 minutes and covering 16 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 12 at LEMG Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport was made from the northwest, heading 118.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,282 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 12 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 323 meters, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 127 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -492 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 100 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,328 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 446 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 94 minutes. The aircraft used 3,915 kilograms of
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, achieving a score of 95.7%. The final approach to runway 12 was initiated from the north-west, with a heading of 118.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 128 knots. However, the touchdown speed of 127 knots was slightly above the optimal speed, indicating a minor deviation from the ideal landing conditions. Furthermore, the touchdown rate was hard at -492 feet per minute, which may have contributed to a slightly rough landing experience.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 4.8 meters, which may have required some adjustments during the rollout phase. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C, with a gentle wind of 6 knots at 100°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which likely contributed to a relatively smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,328 meters was within the acceptable range, accounting for 49% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was successfully brought to a stop without any significant deviations from the centreline. Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with some minor deviations from the ideal conditions.
