MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,305 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,420 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 19 at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City, Missouri. The takeoff distance was 1,884 feet, which was 30% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 144 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 50°F and winds of 15 knots at 159 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 13 knots. The enroute climb started shortly after takeoff, with the aircraft ascending from 1,784 feet above sea level to 35,882 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,097 feet in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 52 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles southeast of Greeley, Kansas, and lasted for 13 minutes, covering a distance of 76 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 4 miles east of the Marion Airport in Kansas, descending from 35,903 feet above sea level to 3,744 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,159 feet in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 46 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 1 mile north of the Wichita Eisenhower National Airport in Kansas, lasting for 12 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 19R at the Wichita Eisenhower National Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 200.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,276 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 19R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,416 feet, which was 26% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 83 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -378 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 61°F and winds of 20 knots at 190 degrees.
The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 20 knots. The total landing distance was 2,639 feet, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 89 feet from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 185 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 64 minutes. The aircraft used 1,137 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed on runway 19R at KICT Wichita Eisenhower National Airport, scoring an overall grade of 83.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 200.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,276 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 96 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 1,416 feet was also satisfactory, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft during the landing phase. The touchdown speed of 83 knots was also within the acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -378 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 20 knots from 190°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 20 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and make the landing more manageable.
However, the pilot did experience some issues during the rollout phase. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 89 feet from the centerline, which is a notable deviation. This may have been due to a slight overcorrection or a miscalculation of the aircraft's position during the rollout phase. Despite this, the total landing distance of 2,639 feet was only 26% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft during the landing and rollout phases.
Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with some minor issues during the rollout phase. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the successful execution of the landing, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory under the given weather conditions.
