MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,739 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 460 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 21R at KDTW Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, a movement that required 20 minutes and covered 3 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 21R, the aircraft used 2,029 m of runway, representing 78 % of the available length, and lifted off at 171 kt; ambient temperature was 30 °C with a wind of 8 kt from 326°, a 7 kt crosswind component and a 4 kt tailwind.
Climb commenced 1 mile south of KDTW, with the airplane ascending from 1,693 ft asl to 37,250 ft asl, a gain of 35,556 ft achieved in 22 minutes while covering 143 nm.
Level cruise began 4 miles east of New Madison, Ohio, and was maintained for 43 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 326 nm.
Descent was initiated 9 miles northwest of Bridgeport, Alabama, with the flight descending from 37,602 ft asl to 2,300 ft asl, a loss of 35,302 ft over 27 minutes and a distance of 151 nm.
The final approach to runway 26R at KATL Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was flown from the east, on a heading of 270.0° at 4 nm and 1,263 ft agl.
Landing on runway 26R was executed with a runway length of 2,739 m; the threshold speed was 134 kt, touchdown occurred at 460 m down the runway at 124 kt, and the vertical speed at touchdown was minus 220 fpm. The touchdown point was offset 6.6 m from the centreline. Local conditions were 33 °C, wind 13 kt from 330°, a crosswind of 11 kt and a headwind of 7 kt. Total landing distance measured 1,275 m, representing 47 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, confirming a smooth deceleration and directional control after touchdown.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 7 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 631 nm, lasted 109 minutes, and consumed 4,684 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 approached runway 26R at Munich (EDDM) from the east on a heading of 263.0° at 4 nm and 1,331 ft AGL. At the 1,000 ft gate the approach was assessed as stabilised, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the local weather was 18 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 244°, including a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind.
The threshold height was reported as good and the threshold speed was good at 137 kt.
Touchdown occurred 425 m down the runway, which was judged good, while the touchdown speed of 129 kt was noted as a little fast. The vertical rate was fair at minus 252 fpm and the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 5.0 m from the centreline. Total landing distance was 1,411 m, representing 35 % of the 3,989 m runway.
Runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft continued along the centreline to the end of the runway.
With a final score of 97.4 %, the landing was strong overall; reducing touchdown speed closer to the target VREF will tighten the speed margin, and correcting the 5.0 m lateral offset will improve centreline alignment for future operations.
