Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,230 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,230 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 13 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Great job on achieving a landing score of 97.1%! Let's take a closer look at each phase of the landing and see how we can further improve for the next time.
In the Approach Phase, your glideslope alignment was excellent, ensuring a smooth descent towards the runway. This is crucial for setting up a successful landing. Keep up the good work in maintaining precise glideslope alignment for future landings.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it's great to see that you had a good threshold height and executed a perfect landing flare. This indicates that you had a smooth touchdown on the runway. However, it's worth noting that the touchdown rate was fair and the speed was slightly above target. Pay close attention to your speed control during the landing phase to ensure a smoother touchdown in the future.
During the Touchdown Phase, it's important to note that the touchdown distance was inside the touchdown zone, which is a positive sign. However, there was a bounce on touchdown, indicating that there may have been an excessive vertical speed upon landing. Focus on maintaining a stable approach and landing to avoid any bounces in future landings.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was slightly off at 5.3 m from the centerline. Make sure to maintain proper alignment with the runway during the rollout phase to ensure a safe and controlled exit from the runway.
Overall, your landing was very impressive with a score of 97.1%. By focusing on speed control, touchdown technique, and runway alignment, you can further improve your landing skills in future flights. Keep up the great work and continue to strive for excellence in your aircraft landings. Good luck on your next landing!
