MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,990 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 567 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport, EDDF. The Airbus A319 took off with a takeoff distance of 208 meters, which accounted for 5% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 163 knots, and the aircraft climbed away from the airport.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered local weather conditions of 19 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots at 80 degrees. The crosswind was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind was 9 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northeast of the airport, where the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,349 feet above sea level to 3,575 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,226 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 15 nautical miles. This phase began 2 miles northwest of Langen, a town in the state of Hessen, Germany. Following the cruise phase, the aircraft started its descent, which began overhead the city of Mainz, located in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
The descent phase saw the aircraft drop from an altitude of 3,732 feet above sea level to 1,627 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,105 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading at 69.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,268 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed on runway 07C, which had a length of 3,990 meters. The threshold height at 65 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 134 knots. The touchdown point was 149 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 125 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -221 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 17 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 80 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The total landing distance was 1,179 meters, which accounted for 30% of the runway.
The total flight distance was 29 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 13 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -40 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed on runway 07C at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) with a score of 91.8%. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 69.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,268 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach to the runway was characterized by a good threshold speed of 134 knots, which is within the acceptable range for a safe landing. However, the threshold height at 65 feet agl was above the target, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach path. Despite this, the touchdown point was 149 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 125 knots was also within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the landing. However, the touchdown rate of -221 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the pilot could have achieved a smoother touchdown. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 17°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from 80°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 1,179 meters was 30% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of achieving a smoother touchdown and maintaining a more precise approach path.
