Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,914 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 487 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A319 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Houari Boumediene Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes to cover a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 23, with a takeoff distance of 2,207 meters, which was 63% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 164 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 18°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 250°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The climb took 13 minutes to reach a height of 32,768 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,757 feet from the initial altitude of 1,011 feet. During this climb, the aircraft covered a distance of 69 nautical miles. The enroute climb was followed by a level cruise, which started 56 miles northwest of 'Ain Benian, Algeria, and lasted for 24 minutes, covering a distance of 135 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started 37 miles north of Cala de Portinatx, Spain. The descent took 25 minutes to reach a height of 1,280 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,961 feet from the initial altitude of 33,241 feet. During this descent, the aircraft covered a distance of 125 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24R at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport was made from the northeast, with a heading of 246.0°, and the aircraft touched down 71 meters beyond the touchdown zone.
The landing was made on runway 24R, which had a length of 2,914 meters. The threshold height at 59 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 134 knots. The touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was good at -188 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 11 knots at 330°. The crosswind was 11 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,177 meters, which was 40% of the runway length. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 3 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 338 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 75 minutes. The aircraft used 2,481 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, achieving a score of 96.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 246.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,262 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 24R, which has a length of 2,914 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down slightly beyond the touchdown zone, 71 meters past the designated area. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was a bit faster than the target speed, but the touchdown rate of -188 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 330°. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance of 1,177 meters was 40% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
However, there was a slight misalignment during the runway rollout, with the aircraft deviating 9.5 meters from the centerline. This deviation was likely due to the crosswind and headwind conditions, which can affect the aircraft's stability and control during the rollout phase. Despite this minor issue, the overall performance of the Airbus A319 during the landing was impressive, with a high score of 96.6% indicating a high level of proficiency and control.
