Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,628 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,628 m of the 4,265 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 282 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 31 at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,083 meters, which was 41% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -4°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 19°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,782 feet above sea level to 37,938 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,156 feet, in just 10 minutes, covering a distance of 95 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 22 minutes and covered a distance of 425 nautical miles. This phase began 6 miles southeast of Minnedosa, Manitoba, Canada. Following the cruise phase, the aircraft began its enroute descent, which started 19 miles northwest of Oyen Municipal Airport in Alberta, Canada. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 37,831 feet above sea level to 4,863 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,968 feet, in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35R at Calgary International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 0.0°, at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,302 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 35R, which had a length of 4,265 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 133 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 283 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -331 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.6 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 11 knots at 289°. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 1,547 meters, which was 36% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 651 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 60 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 4,377 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Calgary International Airport, achieving a score of 95.9%. The final approach to runway 35R was initiated from the south, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 0.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,302 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a threshold speed of 133 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown distance of 283 meters was also within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly faster than desired, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown.
The touchdown rate of -331 feet per minute was firm, indicating that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of landing smoothly. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 5.6 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 289°. This resulted in a crosswind component of 11 knots and a headwind component of 4 knots. The total landing distance of 1,547 meters was 36% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 9.4 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's control inputs during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a good threshold speed and touchdown distance, but with some minor deviations in alignment during the final approach and rollout phases.
