MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,918 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 432 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 14 at MMSP Ponciano Arriaga International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,733 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 146 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot at 140 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed, it started enroute climb 1 mile south east of MMSP Ponciano Arriaga International Airport, San Luis Potosí. The climb took 25 minutes and covered 164 nautical miles, with the aircraft rising from 7,076 feet above sea level to 36,817 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,741 feet. The enroute level cruise started 24 miles south east of San Antonio de las Alazanas, Mexico, and lasted for 104 minutes, covering 1,027 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 2 miles north east of Farmington, Iowa, and took 12 minutes to descend from 37,275 feet above sea level to 2,348 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,927 feet. The descent covered 109 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 36 at KDBQ Dubuque Regional Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 360 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,259 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 36 at KDBQ Dubuque Regional Airport was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 136 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was excellent at -98 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at 350 degrees.
The total landing distance was 935 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft took 1 minute to taxi to the parking from the runway, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,308 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 149 minutes. The aircraft used 7,967 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at KDBQ Dubuque Regional Airport, achieving a perfect score of 100.0%. The final approach to runway 36 was initiated from the south, with the aircraft heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,259 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were impressive, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 142 knots, which is within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 431 meters was also satisfactory, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 136 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have been due to the aircraft's momentum or the pilot's decision to touch down slightly earlier than planned.
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed, the aircraft's touchdown rate was excellent, with a rate of -98 feet per minute (fpm). This indicates that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of touchdown smoothly and maintain control. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft aligning itself precisely with the centerline of the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -9°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 350°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions were favorable for the landing, allowing the aircraft to maintain a stable and controlled approach.
The total landing distance of 935 meters was 49% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop safely within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, with the aircraft maintaining a stable and controlled roll-out after touchdown.
Overall, the Boeing 737-900 aircraft's landing at KDBQ Dubuque Regional Airport was a textbook example of a well-executed and safe landing, with the aircraft achieving a perfect score of 100.0%.
