Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,722 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 570 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 32 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 35R at LIMC Milan Malpensa International Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,080 meters, which is 70% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 10°C temperature and a wind speed of 3 knots at 90°. The crosswind was 3 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile south west of Casorate Sempione, Lombardia, Italy, and reached an altitude of 31,226 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,450 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 85 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Chatel, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France, and lasted for 29 minutes, covering a distance of 208 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 30,687 feet above sea level to 10,415 feet above sea level, a decrease of 20,272 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 52 nautical miles. This descent started 1 mile north east of Blaschette, Mersch, Luxembourg.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile south east of Ensival, Wallonia, Belgium, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 9,886 feet above sea level to 6,733 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,152 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. This descent started overhead Blegny, Wallonia, Belgium.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Glons, Wallonia, Belgium, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 6,498 feet above sea level to 1,852 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,646 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. This descent started overhead Nieuwerkerken, Flanders, Belgium.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Herselt, Flanders, Belgium, and lasted for 10 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 19 at EBBR Brussels Airport from the north, heading 194.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,234 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 19 at EBBR Brussels Airport was successful, with a touchdown point 145 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was good, but the touchdown rate was fair at -298 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.2 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 10°C temperature and a wind speed of 24 knots at 210°.
The total landing distance was 1,419 meters, which is 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.6 meters from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 421 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 96 minutes. The aircraft used 3,939 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at Brussels Airport (EBBR) on runway 19, achieving a score of 89.5%. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 194.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,234 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 133 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 145 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 124 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was only fair at -298 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 10.2 meters, which may have contributed to the slightly off-center touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 24 knots at 210°. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 23 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment during the landing. The total landing distance was 1,419 meters, accounting for 52% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 9.6 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance of the Airbus A319 was satisfactory, with a score of 89.5%.
