Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,244 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,244 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 634 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Beechcraft A36 Bonanza, then departed from runway 20 at EGKA Brighton City Airport. The takeoff distance was 555 meters, which accounted for 73% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 96 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots from a direction of 210 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 12 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Lancing in West Sussex, England. The climb took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 19 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 563 feet above sea level to 6,660 feet above sea level, an increase of 6,098 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 2 miles south east of Alfriston in East Sussex, England. This phase of the flight lasted for 83 minutes and covered a distance of 216 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Slichtenhorst in the Provincie Gelderland, The Netherlands. The descent took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 18 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 6,740 feet above sea level to 1,073 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,666 feet.
The final approach to runway 23 at EHLE Lelystad Airport was made from the north east, with the aircraft heading 232.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,069 feet above ground level and a distance of 3 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 23, which had a length of 1,244 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 83 knots. However, the touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was 69 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -69 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 300 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 1,167 meters, which accounted for 94% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
Overall, the flight covered a total distance of 260 nautical miles and took 110 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 63 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft A36 Bonanza successfully landed at EHLE Lelystad Airport, achieving an overall score of 85.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 232.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,069 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a smooth final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions, which included a temperature of 11°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from 300°.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 23, which has a length of 1,244 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target speed of 83 knots. However, the touchdown point was slightly long, using more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed of 69 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -69 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind component of 9 knots. The pilot successfully managed the crosswind, with a headwind component of 3 knots, to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing. The total landing distance of 1,167 meters was 94% of the runway length, which is a relatively long distance but still within the acceptable range.
During the rollout, the aircraft maintained a very good alignment with the runway centerline, indicating that the pilot had successfully controlled the aircraft's direction and speed during the landing. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and landing phases.
