Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,525 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,525 m of the 2,500 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 619 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 14 at SBPJ Brigadeiro Lysias Rodrigues Airport. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 153 kt, covering a distance of 770 m, which was 31% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 24 °C and a wind speed of 5 kt from a direction of 140 °, resulting in a headwind of 5 kt and a crosswind of 1 kt.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead SBPJ Brigadeiro Lysias Rodrigues Airport and continued towards Palmas (Tocantins, Brazil). During this phase, the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,810 ft asl to 1,594 ft asl, an increase of 216 ft in just 3 minutes, while covering a distance of 3 nm. The climb was smooth and efficient, with the aircraft maintaining a steady rate of ascent.
As the aircraft approached the destination airport, it began its final approach to runway 14, which was located to the north-west. The aircraft was flying at a heading of 124.0 ° and was 2 nm from the runway, at an altitude of 829 ft agl. The local weather conditions at this time were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 23 °C and a wind speed of 5 kt from a direction of 140 °, resulting in a headwind of 5 kt and a crosswind of 1 kt.
The landing was smooth and controlled, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 111 kt. The touchdown point was 197 m beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown rate was good at -157 fpm. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 4.2 m. The total landing distance was 1,438 m, which was 58% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing phase.
The total flight distance was 6 nm, and the flight took 5 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 222 kg of fuel during the flight, indicating a relatively efficient use of resources. Overall, the flight was characterized by smooth and controlled operations, with the pilot making good use of the available resources to complete the flight safely and efficiently.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at SBPJ Brigadeiro Lysias Rodrigues Airport, achieving a high score of 95.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north-west, heading 124.0° at 2 nautical miles and 829 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good control, and the aircraft landed on runway 14, which has a length of 2,500 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 125 knots. Despite this, the touchdown point was 197 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 111 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -157 feet per minute (fpm) was also good.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 23°C and a gentle wind of 5 knots at 140°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing. The total landing distance of 1,438 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance.
The runway rollout alignment was excellent, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, and the pilot maintained good control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with good precision and control, resulting in a high score of 95.2%.
