Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,990 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 396 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight departed from NTTB Bora Bora Airport, where it began its taxiing process from the parking to the runway, taking approximately one minute and covering less than a nautical mile. The Boeing 737-600 then proceeded to initiate the departure roll from runway 11 at NTTB Bora Bora Airport. Upon departing, the aircraft utilized 772 meters, or 52% of the runway, to reach its liftoff speed of 140 knots. The local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, with winds of 8 knots at an 89-degree bearing, resulting in a headwind of 7 knots and a crosswind of 5 knots.
En route climb began about a mile south of the airport, near Motu Mute (Iles Sous-le-Vent, French Polynesia), from a starting altitude of 1,053 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 37,636 feet above sea level. This climb was achieved in 32 minutes and covered a distance of 209 nautical miles, increasing the altitude by 36,583 feet.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase. En route, the flight lasted 250 minutes and covered a distance of 2,074 nautical miles. Its cruise was marked by stability and maintained an altitude of 37,636 feet above sea level. It began its en route level cruise at a location defined by the coordinates of latitude -13.0933468 and longitude -152.7714675.
The descent started approximately 65 miles south of Po'ipu (Hawaii, United States), where the aircraft descended from a height of 38,102 feet above sea level to 1,374 feet above sea level over a distance of 68 nautical miles, covering the significant descent of 36,728 feet in just 12 minutes.
In preparation for landing, the flight initiated its final approach onto runway 35 at PHLI Lihue Airport, coming in from the south with a heading of 0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,267 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 35 and touched down at 396 meters from the start of the runway, covering 42% of its length. The touchdown speed was registered at 116 knots, just slightly above the target touchdown speed, while the touchdown rate was fair at -221 feet per minute below ground level. Although the aircraft was off centerline by 6.6 meters at touchdown, the runway rollout alignment was found to be very good.
The landing and subsequent taxiing took less than a minute to complete, indicating the aircraft was efficiently and effectively guided. The aircraft was parked after a comprehensive flight that covered a significant distance of 2,358 nautical miles, lasted for a total of 302 minutes and utilized 12,779 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-600 successfully completed a landing at PHLI Lihue Airport. The aircraft scored a high rating of 98.0%. The final approach was executed with precise control, maintaining a heading of 0.0° while descending from 4 nautical miles and 1,267 feet above ground level.
Upon touching down on the 1,990-meter long runway, the flight crew was in good control, despite a slightly above-target threshold speed of 126 knots. The touchdown distance was adequate at 396 meters, but the touchdown speed of 116 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which affected the subsequent landing performance. The touchdown rate of -221 feet per minute was fair.
A notable detail in the landing was the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 6.6 meters. This deviation suggests that the aircraft did not perfectly align itself with the runway centerline during the final phases of the approach.
Weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a warm temperature of 28°C and relatively light wind speeds of 8 knots from a direction of 70°. The resulting crosswind component was 7 knots, and the headwind component was 3 knots. These wind conditions did not significantly impact the landing performance.
After touchdown, the aircraft continued for a total distance of 845 meters, which is 42% of the runway length. The flight crew then managed the runway rollout with great precision, keeping the aircraft in excellent alignment with the runway centerline. This successful landing demonstrates the crew's proficiency in handling the Boeing 737-600 and their ability to navigate the specific challenges presented by the weather and the runway environment.
