MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 4,749 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 4,749 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 30 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 22 at KPHN St Clair County International Airport. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 88 kt, covering a distance of 1,156 ft, which was 23% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 73 °F and a wind speed of 9 kt from a direction of 180 °, resulting in a 5 kt crosswind and a 7 kt headwind.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile southwest of KPHN St Clair County International Airport, Port Huron. The climb was from an initial altitude of 1,650 ft above sea level to a maximum altitude of 9,126 ft, an increase of 7,476 ft, in just 4 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 12 nm. The aircraft then transitioned into a level cruise, starting 1 mile northeast of 07D Tackaberry Airport Avoca, and maintained this altitude for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 38 nm.
The enroute descent phase began 3 miles east of Gagetown, where the aircraft descended from 9,163 ft asl to 1,247 ft asl, a decrease of 7,916 ft, in 10 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 43 nm. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 3 miles west of Tawas City, and maintained this altitude for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 3 nm.
The final approach to runway 08 at 6D9 Iosco Co was made from the west, heading 76.0 ° at a distance of 4 nm and an altitude of 854 ft above ground level. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 58 °F and a wind speed of 14 kt from a direction of 356 °, resulting in a 14 kt crosswind and a 2 kt headwind.
The landing was made on runway 08 at 6D9 Iosco Co, which had a length of 4,749 ft. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target speed at 79 kt. The touchdown distance was good at 18 ft, but the touchdown speed was fast at 79 kt, resulting in a hard touchdown rate of -452 fpm. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 ft from the centreline. The total landing distance was 1,040 ft, which was 22% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The total flight distance was 102 nm, and the flight duration was 27 minutes. The aircraft used 274 lbs of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at 6D9 Iosco Co, achieving a score of 90.4%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 76.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 854 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with a good threshold height, indicating that the pilot maintained a safe distance from the runway surface.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 79 knots. This suggests that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more aggressively, resulting in a shorter touchdown distance. However, the actual touchdown distance of 18 feet was still within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 79 knots was also fast, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -452 feet per minute (fpm).
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 15 feet, which may have been due to the crosswind component of 14 knots. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 58°F and a wind speed of 14 knots at 356°, contributed to the crosswind. The headwind component of 2 knots was relatively minor.
The total landing distance of 1,040 feet was 22% of the available runway length of 4,749 feet. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, such as the fast touchdown speed and hard touchdown rate. However, the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft and bring it to a stop within a reasonable distance was commendable.
