Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,485 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 905 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 4.41 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Miami International Airport, taking 8 minutes and covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 08L, with a takeoff distance of 969 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 115 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 20°C and winds of 2 knots at 149 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead Allapattah, Florida, and the aircraft climbed from 1,015 feet above sea level to 29,996 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,981 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 60 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 14 miles south of Chokoloskee, Florida. This phase of the flight lasted 87 minutes and covered a distance of 361 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 36 miles northeast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The descent from 29,970 feet above sea level to 3,019 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,951 feet in 18 minutes, covered a distance of 44 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 7 miles east of Alfredo V. Bonfil, Mexico. This phase of the flight lasted only 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 11 miles southeast of Alfredo V. Bonfil. The descent from 2,746 feet above sea level to 1,123 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,623 feet in 3 minutes, covered a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 30L at Cancun International Airport took place from the southeast, heading 304.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,098 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on runway 30L, which had a length of 3,501 meters. The threshold height was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 100 knots.
However, the second landing on runway 30L resulted in a threshold height that was good, but the threshold speed was excessively high at 173 knots. The touchdown point was 1,114 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was excessively fast at 161 knots. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -882 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 18.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of the second landing were a temperature of 22°C and winds of 0 knots at 138 degrees, with no crosswind or headwind.
The flight ended with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 497 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 163 minutes. The aircraft used 494 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft attempted a landing on runway 30L at MMUN Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún, a 3,501-meter-long runway. The aircraft was approaching from the southeast, heading 304.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,098 feet above ground level (agl).
The initial assessment of the landing was that the final approach was satisfactory, with a good threshold speed of 100 knots. However, the threshold height at 63 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach.
Despite this, the aircraft successfully landed on the runway, but with some notable issues. The threshold speed was excessively high at 173 knots, which is significantly above the recommended speed for landing. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 161 knots was also excessively fast, and the touchdown rate was very heavy at -882 feet per minute (fpm).
Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 18.7 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have drifted off course during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 0 knots at 138°.
Overall, the landing was scored 67.3%, indicating that while the aircraft successfully landed on the runway, there were several issues with the approach and touchdown that need to be addressed.
