MY FS FLIGHTS

Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,553 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 712 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, then departed from runway 10 at Princess Juliana International Airport (TNCM) in Saint Martin. The takeoff distance was 525 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 90 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The climb took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 12 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 372 feet above sea level to 4,031 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,659 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 7 miles west of the St Barthelemy Seaplane (TFF1) and lasted for 25 minutes, covering a distance of 111 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 6 miles north of Sainte-Rose, Guadeloupe, and took 3 minutes to descend from an altitude of 4,090 feet above sea level to 1,081 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,009 feet. The descent covered a distance of 12 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 12 at Pointe-à-Pitre Le Raizet International Airport (TFFR) was made from the west, with a heading of 95.0°, and the aircraft was at an altitude of 1,042 feet above ground level 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 12 was successful, with a touchdown point 272 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 65 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -135 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°.
The total landing distance was 856 meters, which accounted for 34% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 143 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 39 minutes. The aircraft used 191 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at Pointe-à-Pitre Le Raizet International Airport, scoring a high 93.6% on its landing performance. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 95.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,042 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 12, which has a length of 2,553 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good threshold height, indicating a well-executed approach. However, the threshold speed was excessively high at 91 knots, which may be a concern for the pilots. Despite this, the touchdown speed of 65 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -135 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The touchdown point was 272 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance. However, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, suggesting that the pilots maintained good control of the aircraft during the landing. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a light wind of 1 knot from 270°.
The crosswind component was negligible at 0 knots, and the tailwind component was minimal at 1 knot. The total landing distance of 856 meters was 34% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilots maintained good control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Vision Jet aircraft demonstrated good landing performance, with some areas for improvement, such as reducing the threshold speed. However, the pilots' skills and the aircraft's capabilities were well-suited to the landing conditions, resulting in a successful and safe landing.
