Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,317 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,317 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 299 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 17R at SBSP Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The takeoff distance was 1,152 meters, which accounted for 66% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 142 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 18 knots from a direction of 140 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 18 knots. As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile southeast of SBSP Congonhas Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 3,621 feet above sea level to 23,695 feet above sea level, an increase of 20,074 feet, in just 8 minutes and covering a distance of 42 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 10 miles east of Biritiba Mirim and lasted for 9 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 54 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase started 11 miles east of Ubatuba and took the aircraft from an altitude of 23,728 feet above sea level to 294 feet above sea level, a decrease of 23,434 feet, in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 100 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 20L at SBRJ Santos Dumont Airport from the north, heading 177.0 degrees at an altitude of 278 feet above ground level and 1 nautical mile from the runway. The landing was made on runway 20L, which had a length of 1,317 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed at 137 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 299 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 132 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -346 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 140 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 202 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 48 minutes. The aircraft used 1,608 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Santos Dumont Airport (SBRJ) on runway 20L, achieving a high score of 97.4%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 177.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 278 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a steady course, ensuring a smooth final approach.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 132 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. However, the touchdown distance of 299 meters was considered good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent. The touchdown rate of -346 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a controlled and stable landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 24°C and a moderate wind of 10 knots at 140°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing, as the pilot was able to maintain a very good runway touchdown alignment.
The total landing distance of 842 meters was 64% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and rollout. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot had maintained a stable and controlled descent throughout the landing.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and touchdown. The high score of 97.4% reflects the pilot's skill and expertise in navigating the aircraft to a safe and controlled landing.
