MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,664 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 279 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, then departed from runway 16 at KHPN Westchester County Airport, a small airport located in Westchester County, New York. The takeoff distance was 390 meters, which is 20% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 91 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 170 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 4 knots. After departing from KHPN, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting overhead the airport and climbing to an altitude of 15,113 feet above sea level. This climb took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, with an increase in altitude of 13,731 feet.
The aircraft then began its first descent, starting overhead Thornwood, New York, and descending to an altitude of 13,830 feet above sea level. This descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, with a decrease in altitude of 1,521 feet. The aircraft then began another climb, starting 1 mile south east of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, and climbing to an altitude of 15,992 feet above sea level. This climb took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, with an increase in altitude of 1,560 feet.
After the second climb, the aircraft began its level cruise, starting 1 mile north of Congers, New York, and lasting for 19 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 45 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead Long Valley, New Jersey, and descending to an altitude of 1,269 feet above sea level. This descent took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 34 nautical miles, with a decrease in altitude of 14,672 feet.
The final approach to runway 19 at KTEB Teterboro Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 183.0 degrees and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,258 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 19 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 279 meters and a touchdown speed of 84 knots. However, the threshold speed was too high at 90 knots, and the touchdown speed was too fast.
The total landing distance was 1,144 meters, which is 69% of the runway length. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as during takeoff, with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 169 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 4 knots.
The total flight distance was 102 nautical miles, and the flight took 56 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 202 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at KTEB Teterboro Airport, achieving a score of 95.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 183.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,258 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 19, which has a length of 1,664 meters.
Upon touchdown, the threshold height was deemed good, indicating that the aircraft maintained a safe distance from the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly too high at 90 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further to achieve a smoother touchdown. The touchdown distance of 279 meters was considered good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain control and land within a reasonable distance.
Despite the good touchdown distance, the touchdown speed of 84 knots was slightly too fast, which may have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate. The touchdown rate of -333 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, but still within acceptable limits. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 169°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 1,144 meters was 69% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to land within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control and align the aircraft with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at KTEB Teterboro Airport was successful, with a score of 95.2%. While there were some minor issues with the threshold speed and touchdown speed, the aircraft was able to maintain control and land safely within a reasonable distance.
