Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,712 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 416 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Cessna Longitude, then departed from runway 26R at KLAS Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. The takeoff distance was 729 meters, which accounted for 22% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 123 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and winds of 8 knots at 169 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the tailwind was 1 knot. After departing from KLAS, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and took the aircraft up to an altitude of 28,786 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 46 nautical miles and took 9 minutes.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 12 miles west of the Hart Mine Airport in Ivanpah, California. This cruise lasted for 10 minutes and covered a distance of 79 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 2 miles northwest of the Valley Vista Airport in Yucca Valley, California. This descent took the aircraft down from an altitude of 28,815 feet to 2,171 feet above sea level, covering a distance of 83 nautical miles in 16 minutes.
After the descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise, which started overhead Walnut Park, California. This cruise lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 24R at KLAX Los Angeles International Airport, which was located to the east. The aircraft was heading at 263.0 degrees and was 4 nautical miles away from the runway at an altitude of 1,270 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 24R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 415 meters. The touchdown speed was 106 knots, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was firm at -305 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at KLAX were a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and winds of 9 knots at 260 degrees, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,262 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 224 nautical miles, and the flight took 58 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 905 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna Longitude successfully landed on runway 24R at KLAX Los Angeles International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 263.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,270 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions.
The temperature at the time of landing was 17°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots blowing from 260°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component of 0 knots, but a significant headwind of 9 knots. The pilot effectively utilized this headwind to their advantage, ensuring a smooth and controlled descent.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was well above the target speed, reaching 118 knots. This indicates that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and was able to maintain a stable approach. The touchdown distance of 415 meters was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed and altitude.
However, the touchdown speed of 106 knots was slightly faster than desired, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -305 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained control over the aircraft's direction and trajectory.
The total landing distance of 1,262 meters was 47% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This suggests that the pilot had effectively managed the aircraft's speed and altitude during the approach and landing phases.
Finally, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control over the aircraft's direction and speed during the rollout phase. Overall, the Cessna Longitude's landing on runway 24R at KLAX Los Angeles International Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating excellent skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases.
