MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 12,322 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,837 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Colonel James Jabara Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 36, with a takeoff distance of 1,590 feet, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 111 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 64°F temperature and a wind speed of 24 knots at 320°. The crosswind was 17 knots, while the headwind was 16 knots. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,990 feet above sea level to 13,764 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,773 feet in just 6 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles north of Lil Bird Airport, lasting 2 minutes and covering 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent overhead Newton, Kansas, descending from 13,742 feet above sea level to 3,238 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,505 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 30 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed overhead Ney Ultralight Flightpark, lasting 5 minutes and covering 13 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 35 at Salina Municipal Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 360° at 4 nautical miles and 1,304 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 35, which had a length of 12,322 feet. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was excessively high at 100 knots. The touchdown point was 396 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 72 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -193 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 61°F temperature and a wind speed of 18 knots at 320°, with a crosswind of 12 knots and a headwind of 14 knots. The total landing distance was 2,213 feet, which accounted for 18% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight concluded with the Vision Jet taxiing from the runway to the parking area, taking 4 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 66 nautical miles, taking 32 minutes, and the aircraft used 261 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at KSLN Salina Municipal Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 360.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,304 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 35, which has a length of 12,322 feet.
However, there were some discrepancies during the landing. The threshold height at 62 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was excessively high at 100 knots, which could have contributed to the high touchdown speed. The touchdown point was 396 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 72 knots was a little fast.
Despite these issues, the touchdown rate was good at -193 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to the crosswind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 61°F and winds of 18 knots at 320°. The crosswind was 12 knots, and the headwind was 14 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing.
The total landing distance was 2,213 feet, which is 18% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop quickly after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the Vision Jet aircraft landed safely, there are areas for improvement in terms of approach and landing technique. The pilot should focus on maintaining a more stable approach, reducing the threshold speed, and improving the touchdown speed and position.
