MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,616 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 403 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 27 at CYSK Sanikiluaq Airport, where the aircraft, a M500, took off with a takeoff distance of 570 meters, which is 45% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 94 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were a temperature of -6 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 158 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 2 miles southwest of CYSK Sanikiluaq Airport, rising from an altitude of 1,023 feet above sea level to 22,958 feet above sea level, an increase of 21,935 feet in just 17 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 46 miles northeast of CYSK Sanikiluaq Airport and lasted for 93 minutes, covering a distance of 416 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 24 miles west of CYLC Kimmirut Airport, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 23,419 feet above sea level to 1,345 feet above sea level, a decrease of 22,074 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 75 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 16 at CYFB Iqaluit Airport was made from the northwest, heading 135.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,250 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 16 at CYFB Iqaluit Airport was successful, with a touchdown distance of 401 meters, which is well within the runway length of 2,616 meters. The touchdown speed was 73 knots, and the touchdown rate was -162 feet per minute, both of which were good. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 110 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 725 meters, which is 28% of the runway. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 546 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 142 minutes, using 230 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, identified as an M500, successfully landed at CYFB Iqaluit Airport, achieving a high score of 95.6%. The final approach was conducted from the northwest, heading 135.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,250 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft then landed on runway 16, which has a length of 2,616 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be above the target, indicating that the aircraft touched down slightly higher than intended. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 83 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more controlled descent. The touchdown distance of 401 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 73 knots was also within acceptable limits.
The touchdown rate of -162 feet per minute (fpm) was also deemed good, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down smoothly and without excessive deceleration. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain a stable and controlled approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of -11°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 110°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions presented a moderate challenge for the pilot, but the aircraft was able to handle them successfully.
The total landing distance of 725 meters was 28% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop in a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft throughout the landing process. Overall, the landing was considered a success, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good handling and control.
