Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.

The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 24R at LEPA Palma de Mallorca Airport in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 24R, the aircraft accelerated through a takeoff distance of 3,294 ft, representing 31 % of the runway, and lifted off at 145 kt. Local weather at the time was 77 °F with a wind of 8 kt from 280°, including a 6 kt crosswind component and a 6 kt headwind.
Climb commenced one mile west of LEPA, with the airplane climbing from 1,131 ft asl to 15,748 ft asl, an altitude gain of 14,617 ft achieved in 7 minutes while covering 33 nm.
The first cruise segment began 11 nm north-west of Banyalbufar and lasted 5 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 34 nm at level altitude.
Descent started 43 nm north-west of Port de Soller, descending from 16,001 ft asl to 3,364 ft asl, a loss of 12,637 ft in 12 minutes while traversing 62 nm.
A second cruise phase was initiated 9 nm south-east of la Barceloneta, lasting 3 minutes and covering 12 nm at constant altitude.
The subsequent descent began 3 nm south-east of la Vila Olimpica del Poblenou, dropping from 2,718 ft asl to 1,351 ft asl, a decrease of 1,368 ft in 2 minutes over a distance of 4 nm.
On final approach to runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, the aircraft approached from the north-east on a heading of 245.0°, entering the approach at 4 nm and 1,325 ft agl. The final descent continued from 1,390 ft agl to 132 ft agl in 106 seconds, and the approach was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing was executed on runway 24R, whose length is 11,416 ft. The threshold speed was 140 kt, and touchdown occurred 1,070 ft beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 124 kt with a vertical speed of minus 166 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good. Local conditions at landing were 73 °F with a wind of 8 kt from 280°, a 5 kt crosswind and a 7 kt headwind. The total landing distance measured 5,082 ft, representing 45 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was perfect as the aircraft decelerated and exited the runway.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 7 minutes, covering 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 157 nm, took 45 minutes, and consumed 4,463 lbs of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 entered the final approach to runway 24R at LEBL from the north-east on a heading of 245.0° at 4 nm and 1,325 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the aircraft descended from 1,390 ft agl to 132 ft agl in 106 seconds.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 140 kt, meeting the required parameters for a safe flare.
Touchdown occurred 1,070 ft beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 124 kt, a touchdown rate of minus 166 fpm and very good runway touchdown alignment. The runway length is 11,416 ft and the total landing distance was 5,082 ft, representing 45 % of the runway.
Rollout alignment was perfect, keeping the aircraft centered on the runway centreline through the deceleration phase.
Aim the touchdown point closer to the designated touchdown zone to reduce the rollout distance while preserving the current speed and alignment, which were already within the acceptable limits.
