Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 899 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 899 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 253 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This flight was conducted in a Cessna C172 aircraft, departing from Mananara Nord Airport (FMNC) in Madagascar. The taxiing process from the parking area to the runway took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its departure roll on runway 29, with a takeoff distance of 280 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was recorded at 57 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it reached a height of 1,781 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,527 feet from the initial altitude of 254 feet. This climb took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The enroute climb started over the Mananara Nord Airport, located in the Analanjirofo Region of Madagascar.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 17 minutes and covered a distance of 32 nautical miles. This phase began 3 miles southeast of the Mananara Nord Airport. The aircraft then began its descent towards Ambodiatafa Airport (FMAD), with a final approach to runway 25 from the northeast, at a heading of 233.0 degrees and an altitude of 576 feet above ground level, 4 nautical miles from the airport.
The landing on runway 25 was successful, with a touchdown speed of 47 knots and a touchdown distance of 251 meters. The touchdown rate was fair at -222 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 7.3 meters. The total landing distance was 525 meters, accounting for 58% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.4 meters.
The local weather conditions during the flight were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. The total flight distance was 40 nautical miles, taking approximately 27 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 16 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed at FMAD Ambodiatafa Airport, achieving a score of 95.0%. The final approach to runway 25 was initiated from the north east, with a heading of 233.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 576 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 58 knots, which was within the acceptable threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 251 meters was also within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 47 knots was slightly lower than the expected speed, which may have contributed to a slightly higher touchdown rate of -222 feet per minute (fpm). This rate is considered fair, but it could be improved upon.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 7.3 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a minor issue with the aircraft's navigation system. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, which is relatively mild and should not have affected the aircraft's performance.
The total landing distance of 525 meters was 58% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline by 11.4 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's braking or a minor issue with the aircraft's navigation system.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 95.0%. However, there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown rate and runway rollout alignment. With some adjustments to the approach and landing technique, the aircraft's performance can be further optimized.
