MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,326 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,010 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, then departed from runway 29L at VVNB Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam. The takeoff distance was 2,388 feet, which accounted for 19% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 105 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 69°F and winds of 12 knots at 180°. The crosswind was 12 knots, while the tailwind was 4 knots. As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead VVNB Noi Bai International Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,064 feet above sea level to 29,666 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,603 feet, in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 54 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 20 miles west of Lang Son, Vietnam. This phase of the flight lasted for 70 minutes and covered a distance of 396 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 6 miles southwest of VMMC Macau International Airport in Guangdong Sheng, China. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 29,793 feet above sea level to 1,240 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,553 feet, in 26 minutes and covering a distance of 22 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07C at VHHH Hong Kong International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 71.0° at an altitude of 1,213 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing on runway 07C, which had a length of 11,326 feet, was successful, with a threshold height that was good and a threshold speed that was well above the target at 79 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 1,004 feet, and the touchdown speed was 69 knots, which was also good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -137 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 73°F and winds of 10 knots at 350°. The crosswind was 10 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,970 feet, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 480 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 130 minutes. The aircraft used 830 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at VHHH Hong Kong International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.8%. The aircraft began its final approach to runway 07C from the west, heading 71.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,213 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot's approach was well-executed, with a smooth touchdown and a perfect runway touchdown alignment.
Upon landing, the aircraft's threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 79 knots. This indicates that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and speed. The touchdown distance of 1,004 feet was also good, and the touchdown speed of 69 knots was within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate of -137 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled and stable descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 73°F and a wind speed of 10 knots from 350°. This resulted in a 10-knot crosswind and a 2-knot headwind. Despite these conditions, the pilot was able to maintain a perfect runway touchdown alignment and a very good runway rollout alignment.
The total landing distance of 2,970 feet was 26% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and speed to achieve a short landing distance. Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at VHHH Hong Kong International Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating excellent flying skills and control over the aircraft.
