MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,287 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 876 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Brussels Airport (EBBR). This process took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 07R, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,227 meters, which was 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 159 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 10°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 140 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was also 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead Kortenberg, Belgium, where the aircraft ascended from 1,216 feet above sea level to 12,794 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,578 feet in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile east of Bornem, Belgium, and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles. The aircraft then started another enroute climb 1 mile west of Pernis, Netherlands, where it ascended from 13,450 feet above sea level to 36,308 feet above sea level, an increase of 22,858 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 97 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 1 mile west of Aldtsjerk, Netherlands, and lasted for 31 minutes, covering a distance of 234 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent 3 miles northwest of Langa, Denmark. The descent from 36,540 feet above sea level to 2,173 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,367 feet, took 18 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 03 at Göteborg Landvetter Airport (ESGG) was made from the southwest, heading 29.0 degrees at 3 nautical miles and 1,552 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 03, which was 3,287 meters long. However, the threshold height was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed was too high at 159 knots.
The touchdown point was 344 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 136 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very hard at -513 feet per minute. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were -2°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 60 degrees, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,177 meters, which was 36% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 506 nautical miles, taking 88 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,283 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at ESGG Göteborg Landvetter Airport, but the landing was not without its challenges. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 29.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,552 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 03, which has a length of 3,287 meters.
However, the landing was not perfectly executed. The threshold height at 85 feet agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been too high during the approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 159 knots, which could have contributed to the difficulties in achieving a smooth touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 344 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 136 knots was also a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -513 feet per minute (fpm). This suggests that the aircraft may have experienced a hard impact upon touchdown, which could have put additional stress on the landing gear and other aircraft components.
Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline, which could have made the landing more challenging. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were not particularly favorable, with a temperature of -2°C and a wind speed of 4 knots at 60°. However, the crosswind and headwind components were relatively light, with 2 knots and 3 knots respectively.
Despite the challenges, the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a reasonable distance, with a total landing distance of 1,177 meters, which is 36% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, it was still a safe and successful operation.
