Arrival
Add power on approach to bring the speed up to 145 kt before the stabilisation gate, not after it.
What happened: The approach was already slow at the stabilisation gate, and a slow gate like that usually carries through to a slow threshold crossing - here 135 kt against the 145 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against 145 kt on approach, carrying through to 145 kt at the threshold.
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed 6 kt SLOW on the reference speed of 145 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,796 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,749 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EFHK Helsinki Vantaa Airport took approximately 8 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The Boeing 737-800 then began its departure roll on runway 22R, utilizing 40% of the 3,917-foot runway to achieve liftoff at a speed of 155 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 37°F, with a gentle headwind of 2 knots and a crosswind of 7 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from EFHK, it began its enroute climb 1 mile west of the airport, ascending from an initial altitude of 1,102 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 36,011 feet, a vertical gain of 34,910 feet in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 120 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase commenced 9 miles northwest of Emmaste, Estonia, and lasted for 620 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 830 nautical miles. The descent phase began 1 mile northeast of Bovec, Slovenia, where the aircraft descended from 35,994 feet to 9,167 feet in 17 minutes and covered 107 nautical miles. The final descent phase started 1 mile southwest of Gavello, Italy, and concluded with a landing on runway 04R at LIPZ Venice Marco Polo Airport.
The final approach to runway 04R was initiated from the southwest, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 41.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,323 feet above ground level. The landing was executed successfully, with the touchdown point located 471 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 128 knots and touchdown rate of -181 feet per minute were both within acceptable limits. The total landing distance of 4,806 feet, which accounted for 44% of the 10,863-foot runway, was also satisfactory. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 5 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance of 1,116 nautical miles was achieved in 176 minutes, with the aircraft consuming 14,899 pounds of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 executed a final approach to runway 04R at LIPZ Venice Marco Polo Airport from the south-west on a heading of 41.0° at 4 nm and 1,310 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
During the threshold and flare phase the runway length of 10,796 ft provided a good threshold height, while the threshold speed was slightly below target at 135 kt.
Touchdown occurred 387 ft beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 128 kt, which was recorded as good, and a vertical rate of minus 181 fpm, also good. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 12 ft from the centreline. Ambient conditions were temperature 34 °F, wind 7 kt from 153°, including a 6 kt crosswind component and a 3 kt tailwind component.
The aircraft rolled out over a total landing distance of 4,722 ft, representing 44 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was very good.
To refine the already high score of 98.7 %, aim to reduce the touchdown point distance to be closer to the intended aim point and improve centreline alignment by a few feet to eliminate the 12-ft offset.
